# Method ## A system is alive when it can change and remain functional. Vision in Movement is a practice for observing change, forming claims, producing work, and learning from its operation in the world. ```vim-method vision-in-movement ``` ## From signal to operation The process begins before an argument exists. A field note preserves a signal: something felt, noticed, or unresolved. Evidence appears when observations begin to form a pattern. Learning gives that pattern a provisional model. An essay turns the model into a claim that can be examined, challenged, and revised. Production gives the claim a perceptible form. Operation places that form in use. These are not incomplete essays; they preserve contact with situations before a conclusion closes them.
